Tumusiime-Mutebile, Governor, Bank of Uganda (BoU), has said.

Current events in Libya will neither affect the operations nor have an impact on the financial condition of Tropical Bank Limited which remains financially sound, the Governor stated in the press release issued on Friday September 2, 2011.

“Over the recent past there have been a number of press reports covering the political crisis in Libya and the collapse of the Libyan Government,

“Notwithstanding the unfolding events, Bank of Uganda wishes to clarify that Tropical Bank Limited is operationally independent from the Libyan Government,” the Governor said.

In March 2011, BoU took specific measures to ring-fence the operations of Tropical Bank Limited in order to ensure that the bank was fully independent of the Government of Libya and its official duties.
