Three Cabinet ministers indicted over Commonwealth Head of Government Meeting (CHOGM) works at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala have denied the charges over abuse of office and causing loss to government.

Sam Kutesa, John Nasasira and Mwesigwa Rukutana who on Wednesday stepped down from their Cabinet posts of Foreign affairs, Chief Whip and state for labour respectively, were charged before the Anti-Corruption Court on Thursday.

The trio allegedly committed the government to fund the construction of walkways, parking lots and the marina at the Speke Resort Munyonyo causing government to lose sh14b.

The three successfully applied for bail before Chief Magistrate Irene Akankwasa. She ordered each of them to deposit sh40m in cash for bail and each of their 15 sureties bound at sh1b not cash.

The ministers and their sureties are to also deposit their passports with court and only apply for them when they want to travel. They are also supposed to report to Court once a month.
